Best of North India

The North India, strategically, most important part of India has shaped the course of India's historical and cultural evolution over the last 3500 years. The three main religions - Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism; the origin of sacred river Ganga, Yamuna and sources of many other important rivers are in northern India. The mighty Himalayas from Himachal Pradesh to Arunachal Pradesh safeguarding the country are also part of the northern India. Delhi, the capital of India has seen the battle between many emperors and has been ruled by them from time to time. Some of the outstanding monuments like Qutab Minar, Jama Mosque, Humayun's Tomb were built by Mughal Emperors during their regime. Rajasthan, one of the most colourful and vibrant state of India is proudly associated with northern India. Most famous for its Forts and Palaces; Rajasthan's Thar Desert and Cattle Fairs are no less interesting. Uttar Pradesh, the most populated state in the country has beautiful monuments like Taj Mahal; wildlife sanctuaries and is associated with river Ganges as her source of origin from Gaumukh in the Himalayas.

Day 01: Delhi
We shall meet and transfer to the hotel and thereby we shall have an overnight stay at the hotel in Delhi in the Taj Plus Tour in Agra.

Day 02: Delhi - UdaipurBest of North India Tours
In the morning we shall visit the sights of Old Delhi. In the evening we shall fly to Udaipur, which is known as the Venice of the east. It is also called the city of lakes. Taj Plus Tour in Agra and the Lake Palace on Jag Niwas Island in the middle of Pichola Lakes is the finest example of its architectural and cultural explosion. We shall transfer to the hotel in Udaipur.

Day 03: Udaipur
In the morning we shall take a city tour and see the impressive City Palace, the biggest palace complex in Rajasthan, the beautiful gardens of Sahelion-kibari, and the Jagdish Temple in the Taj Plus Tour in Agra. The afternoon will be left free.

Day 04: Udaipur
We shall spend the day at leisure. Then we shall conduct an excursion to the eminent Jain temples at Ranakpur, which is known for the intricacy of their sculpture.

Day 05: Udaipur - Jaipur
We shall spend another day at leisure to soak in the atmosphere of this beautiful city of Udaipur. In the evening we shall fly to Jaipur and transfer to the hotel in Jaipur. It a bustling capital city and a business centre with all the trapping of modern metropolis but yet flavored strongly with an age-old charm that never fails to surprise a traveler. The old Jaipur painted in Pink can grip any visitor with admiration. Stunning backdrop of ancient forts Nahargarh, Amer, Jagarh and Moti Dungri are dramatic testimonials of the bygone era and a reminder of their lingering romance.

In the morning we shall enjoy an excursion to Amber where the hilltop fort is climbed on elephant back. In the afternoon a sightseeing of the city will be arranged in the Taj Plus Tour of Agra India.

Day 7: Agra
We shall drive to Agra after visiting the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri en route. It is 232 kms by road and will take 5 hours to reach there. Agra is the one of the prominent destinations of the World Tourism map with three heritage monuments -The Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri & Red Fort. It is more just a decadent city of graveyards and stones, but it is a vibrant centre of Culture, Art and Religious philosophies that have enriched mankind and shaped human thought over centuries.

Day 8: Agra
In the morning we shall visit the sights of Agra including the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula. The afternoon will be spent at leisure, perhaps for a second visit to the eternal monument to love, the Taj Mahal. (Taj Mahal is closed on all Fridays).

Day 9: Khajuraho Best of North India Tours
We all shall enjoy a short train ride in the morning to Jhansi, in Air-conditioned chair car. Then we shall transfer by car to Khajuraho (190 km which will take around 4 hrs) visiting Orchha en route. Khajuraho is famous for its 10th century Chandela dynasty temples and their erotic sculptures. Khajuraho was the capital of the Chandelas for a brief period but for most of the part, it was their religious center. The construction of the temples is said to have started in the mid- 9th century and continued until the early 12th century and due to the lack of records of the building activity, the names of the thousands of sculptors, architects and masons, who must have contributed in their construction has been lost forever into obscurity in the Taj Plus Tour of Agra India.

Day 10: Khajuraho
We shall visit the famous temples in the morning. We shall spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 11: Varanasi (Banaras)
A short flight in the morning will bring us to the Holy City of Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world. Varanasi is more than 3000 years old and is famous as the city of temples. In Varanasi, there are temples at every few paces. Looking at the number of temples in Varanasi, it is hard to believe that a large number of them were demolished during the medieval times. Day 12: To Delhi
We shall enjoy an early morning boat-ride on the Holy Ganga to see devotees at prayer along the "ghats". We shall also visit the city and a factory weaving the famous Banaras silk in pit looms. In the evening we shall board a train to Delhi for a characteristically Indian experience. We shall have an overnight journey in air car sleeper coach in the Tours in Agra.

Day 13: Delhi
We shall arrive at Delhi in the morning and transfer to the hotel. We shall spend the day at leisure perhaps for an optional sightseeing of New Delhi in the Tours in Agra.

Day 14: Delhi Departure
We shall spend the day at leisure. In the evening we shall transfer to the airport to connect flight for onward destinations.
